The one on the left is real nice. Looks like its at least 4 or 5 lbs.:cheers2: My uncle and I landed some like that in our float tubes in crowne point mission bay/Pacific beach area.

You should be careful putting pics of illegal fish online. The one on the right looks like its Fourteen inches long. Nice catch, but be more careful in the future.

Cheers - See you on the water

I have fished with duane countless times... everything is always by the book. If a fish is short, he won't even lift the whole thing out of the water. If it looks close then he will measure it with a dfg tape. DfG is always at the ramp too, he would be a fool to keep an illegal fish...

Don't get huffy. I'm on your side. I was just reading the CA dfg regulation book and on page 38 it says "Halibut fillets must be a minimum of 16 and three-quarter inches and shall bear the entire skin intact"

My goal was not to paint your friend as a criminal, I just wanted to keep a fellow smackfisher out of trouble. I've seen game wardens hiding on shore with binoculars. My uncle and I would have released that short one. Just my .02.

Cheers

No worries man, I was just stating facts that i know from experiences fishing with him. Believe me he knows better than to even put a filet knife to a legal hali unitl it's in his kitchen. Anyways the fish looks like it spans from waist to shoulder on him.. I measure around 24 inches from waist to shoulder.

nice try on the troll, but i dont chew on weak spreads.

We didn't catch them on the trolling. I got mine on the dropshot and my uncle got his trolling. Back home, we called them flounder.

Cheers
