Craig, you really missed out on some good action. REALLY MISSED OUT!
I put a report up on SDDonks so I'm not going to write much here. I'll pass on detailed info through PMs if someone is going this weekend.
They were big models (6/13 lber the largest with 12 more between 3 and 4/08 lbers) and smaller models (schools size 1-2 lbers) in unlimited numbers boated by the 3 of us yesterday.
Outstanding TW bite early that was WFO for 20 minutes and died off right after 0630 hrs. Spooks, prop-baits and poppers bit every cast. Hit and miss TW action useing spooks a little further off the bank in this area until afer 0700 but the blade and crank bite was so good we dicided to just do that.
The larger models except 2 were caught useing bigger plastics (8 in slugs and lizards) c-rigged and worked along structure in deeper H2o. Mason and Duane know where and that's all I'm saying here about that.
I got the 6/13 lber useing an antique Johnson's Silver Minnow spoon with a white/red skirt and fishing it just like a blade. Deep in the weeds and the beast took it as it popped out and sank along the edge of the weed bed. I boated a 4/07 lber later in the afternoon useing a deep diving crank off one of the points.
Fished PC and Hauser. For us PC was dead other than the deep water rockpile
that always produces some larger models.
Blades of various sizes effective as long as the skirts were mostly white. Later in the day a blade fished in deeper water that was slow rolled produced fish.
