12 mile run from the beach in a 15' tin can. Lost count after 20 fish!
Best Mex trip of my life! Worst boat experience also, the wind kicked up around 1pm 4 foot wind chop, had to stand and hold the bow rope of the highest part of the bow to keep the boat stable, Long ride back with bloody feet and hands and a migraine, but it was worth it!

Same trip in Agua Verde, Hit a boiler rock and had to beach the boat to remove prop tangled with spectra, 82 degree water Lots of Leopard Grouper caught that day!

Lost 1 camera in the drink trying to take pictures of the whale shark cruising below out boat. Isla Cerralvo, home of fish that will pull you overboardand, and boiler rocks that eat boats for breakfast!

Thanks Duane, I had a 100 pound Sailfish on that same set up, Graphite USA + Newell spooled with 65 pound braid and a 80 pound mono leader. You don't need a $1500 dollar tuna reels and roller guides to land bill fish all the time. Light gear rules!

It was a s229. I was a Penn and Torium guy before, that trip converted me. I used the 322 mostlty on the trip, and the 220 for small Roosters and Sierra!

nice one. i have a old school G229 being rebuilt right now (why i asked). such a bad ass little reel.
