shore fishing question

any good spots in san diego for bass off the shore? i don't have a boat.

Plenty of opportunities, especially in SD Bay & Mission Bay. In Mission, Fiesta Island and Sail Bay (along with many others) offer great near-shore eel grass beds where spotties love to hang. Small swimbaits, spinnerbaits, etc. work well. Look and you'll find areas where it gets deep pretty quickly, like the Crown Point/ Sail Bay area. Look for areas where it gets deeper not too far from shore - most bass will be in 6' of water or more. Grab a pole and cruise around theose areas until you find 'em...they'll be hunkered down in the weeds - remember, if you aren't catching grass, you aren't catching bass. Spotties hunker down in it tight but they're agressive when you get a bait near them.

Wow! Thanks for the info! I'll try those spots next time I'm out there. I'll keep you posted with anything I catch. BTW, are there any restricted areas where i'm not allowed to fish?
