The S.S. Spottie Slayer out to earn its name

Took the Ole' S.S. Spottie Slayer out again to try and earn it its name with a few spotties, this time my buddy Alex was playin the part of first mate. Launched at ski beach with the wind blow’n pretty steady outta the west. Decided to paddle to the west shore of the bay and drift back with the wind. Got across the bay in bout an hour and a half, not bad considering the boat and the wind in our face. Anchored up, (by anchor I mean a cinder block attached to a rope,) and started to fish.

Drifted for about 3 hours for nothing until we got back to in front of paradise point side of vacation island, i was reeling my swimmy in when it got close to the boat i saw this guy following it, i stopped reeling and...STRIKE!

nice 14” hiding behind Alex’s thumb in the pic. Much nicer sized than his buddy’s i'd caught earlier.

Finally Alex got a fish on, but i guess his knot gave out cause it broke off close to the boat.
Bout 30 min later he landed his first fish...

drifted back to the truck after that. Did see a bucket guy that caught about 8 fish as we floated by so i had to take a looksy into his bucket...

Was a great day on the water, i'm super stoked on the new vessel!

Nice report, that is a really nice spotty good job you can tell its nice by the comparison to the thumb!
