Got the invite from Crawdad Guy for a gentleman's start at the pond on Sat 1.9.10. Wind from the east...fish bite the least. And that's how it started, wind from the east. CD bagged a decent 3# fish and that was it for 4 hours in a wind against current (really) condition.
At high noon we pull anchor and deploy the spreader-bar. Partnered with CD's home-made down-rigger enticingly attached to a SPRO BZ1, we troll at 1 knot looking for :giggity:. We had good marks at 40-80' but alas, no biters. That was until my 8' Terramar loads up, OH YEAH !....and it feels big !! With 200' of line out it took a while for it all to get verticle, at which point I now know I have hooked :redi-dream:.
Attached to the 4' of nylon anchor rope I snagged was a 10# concrete block anchor :rotfl:, nothin' like getting punked by a concrete block I tell ya'.
Fast forward to 3:00 PM, a little :zingpow: applied to our offerings and bites start coming. CD connects.....again.....and then again, I get one and then another. I think it was 6 fish on that last stop for a culled (and released) 16# 5 bagger......oh...and a 10# concrete kicker released as well, just trying to do our part don't you know. :sun-smile:
