nice stripers. i used to fish them in saltwater on the east coast. my best was 54lbs. when you fish them in fresh water do use the same techniques, trolling, poppers and plugs and chuck or live bait?

I think you could use the same basic techniques on FW stripers. I've only fish for landlocked stripers and all my bigger fish have come on 7"+ plastic swimbaits or wood plugs, trout imitating lures are pretty much the norm for bigger fish since our lakes and resevoirs are stocked pretty regularly.
Your live bait options are pretty limited in Socal, you basically have shad that you can dip net when they are up and schooling but that does not happen often. I just try and stack the odds in my favor as much as possible and fishing at night has been the most productive tactic.

Well Testis Piscicolous, you ol' nut sack you!
With all the new monikers everyone seems to feel the need to switch to lately, I can't keep up with some folks I've known for years! At least yours is an obvious translation. (And then you have fights over the really cool ones like JimineyZcrackcorN :catfight:)
THAT is a manifest de captura (now I'm just making shit up) history anybody would be proud of! Very nice! Some bitchen bitches there, son, 2b sure!!

thanks for the info. we fished for the larger stripers pretty much exclusively on the turn on the tide at night, drifting worms into the flats or live/chunk bait over the reefs. for the smaller schoolies, i liked to fish broken back rebels and creek chubs into the weed lines on any moving tide. i miss striper fishing, but kelp bass are keeping me sane.
