a few weeks back, my little sis brought my niece out to the fred hall show and she loved it... thought it was like disney land. ever since, she's been saying that she wants to "go fishie wit uncle deewayne"...
so we finally made a some time and took the 3 yr old aspiring angler on down to chollas lake to get her on her first fish. she was super pumped on it and ready to rope em with her dora the explorer set-up and cup of "icky wormies".
got down to the lake and set up shop on the north end pier. i got the rods ready and emily got to work on a steady chum line of bread. i told her slow 1's & 2's on the little bread balls to the ducks.. sure enough by time i got the rods ready and baited up, the BG's we're puddling just off the dock so we went right to work... got the hook and hand thing going and before you know it, she jack-poled her first fish, a healthy lil' BG, right outta the water and on to the float! then dropped that rod and ran as fast as she could, scared as shit of the little BG. we finally convinced her that everything was ok and got a pic. continued on and hung a few more and by the end she was all about 'em and even gave her last one a kiss before we released it and she said "i like to let them go home"... made me a proud uncle!
this is my niece emily... remember this face now, cuz she'll be hanging YT on the surface plug in no time!
