I saw a movie I thought might be a slug because I never heard any reviews or talk about it when it was in the theatres. Turns out I was SO WRONG! GREAT flick!!!:
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. This reviewer :idiot::cheers::Ganjaman: liked everything about this movie. The style of story telling, the cinematography, and the acting all well done!
Well, "liked" is way too weak of a word. I will purchase this movie!
Rated 6 pompomfreaks out of 5:

I had started to watch it again and was into it about a half an hour when my son came over and took it! :frustrated:
Naw, it was my fault! I had raved about it on the phone with him (we're big fans: Tombstone, Lonesome Dove, etc) so he ran all the way over (lives 3 houses away) and took it. But he will return it or he's out of the will.
Seriously though, when I started watching it again I was totally focused and loving it. Not too many flicks I can name that I can say that about.
Highly recommended!!!!!

I just saw this today on that IMDb website:
"The original cut of "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" was nearly four hours long. It was edited down to two hours and forty minutes, its current runtime, at the studio's request. However, it did play at least once at its original 4-hour length, most notably at the Venice Film Festival, where Brad Pitt picked up the Best Actor Award. After the viewing, critics at the festival labeled the film as "majestic." "

I would love to see that full length (almost 4 hours long) version.

Doug! here's another jewel! outstanding!
and: Got your messages, but you were gone. Will email update and news later.

Been on my shelf for a month now and still haven't watched it. I need to make sure I have the uninterrupted time. Sounds worth the wait though.

Hey, Macro, it's Bryan from sdfish. Just saw a post re: you on this board, had not heard of it, so I came to check it out.

Anyway, I loved the film as well. I get real tired of straight forward, predictible Hollywood fodder after awhile. It's refreshing to see something more cerebral that focuses on charater development, storyline, dialogue, and scenery in incredible detail.

If you have not seen it yet, you will also most likely enjoy "There Will Be Blood"

Take care

Bryan

Thanks for the heads-up, Mac.
I'll check it out directly (like tommorrow as it's supposed to start raining again).
4 days and nights of rain!:wtf: This is the 1st day the sun has shown since last Thursday so I spent it outdoors. Can't go trout fishing now as all the criks in the area are roaring.
I did spend a morning last Wednesday fishing a stretch of Linden Creek that borders the farm. I caught one 18 inch Palamino Trout and 2 smaller 'bows useing a Panther Martin #9.

I was invited to go catch a Penguin's game last Sunday but had to turn it down.

Have a good opening day out a Barrett. Catch one for me. Say hey to everyone for me.
