I got invited to go on a pontoon boat rental day at DVL with my son...I was suppose to be the "lake expert" or something..funny as I don't own a 4 stroke and go to DVL 1 time a year...we tried to catch a few planter trout near the ramp but we failed so we headed out to the west Dam to try to catch a few holdover rainbows..I had one rod with leadcore line the other on a homemade downrigger...(2lb weight, downrigger clip, parachute cord)..
here's the crew waighting for a hookup

it did work as we caught 6 trout the biggest a #2.6 rainbow my son (standing) got that and the other kid got a #2.1...the fish were 15-35ft. down and bit orange rapalas or even better anything chrome like a kastmaster or needlefish..they were all on shad balls

after a few hours the bite died and the boys were crying for bass...we anchored off points looking for the green fish..my son got this one on a crawler

on another spot my buddy tossed out a dad I brought and said i think I'm bit
he was so he handed the rod to his son and the result was a nice bass #5.75 lbs. check it out

I lost another #5 er to some trees on a dad..we ended the day trolling home and picked up another trout or 2 ..the boat was cool with a live well.50hp yami..and plenty of seating..it was a fun day with a few nice fish..the boys released the bass after photos..fun fun..I'm glad my plan B and C worked out crawdadguy PS Ihope my photos show up..
