The longest fishing day of the year at Barrett. We always get a ticket to fish there on or as close to the Summer Solstace as possible. Just to feel we got our money's worth dontcha know.
The water in Hauser and Pine Crik is not as clear as it was our last visit out there. The main lake is still as clear as it was.
We fished Pine Crik for a decent reaction bite in the morning. Did well using hard body slash baits a bit off the rocks and trees early and found the bass would bite Norman DD22 cranks in deeper water through rocks and along a few rock walls later in the morning.
Midday/midafternoon we fished the main lake area concentrating on working a few of the deeper rockpiles with jigs, creature baits, and large (8-10 inch) c-rigged worms. The most productive lure of this period was a rootbeer/red flake colored Arkie Salty Grub. They just liked that better and more often than they liked the other offerings. We just anchored on these spots and waited them out as they seemed to come and go.
Finished the day in Hauser with an another decent reaction bite. Not really any TW action but they did bite suspending hard body slash baits pretty well both in the morning and evening.
PS: We also found a concentration of Crappie (black + white) that bit drop shotted 4 inch robos with wild abandon while attending an integrated inner city school on a rockpile in 15 ft of H2o diagonally across the lake from the dock. Musta been lunch time for the little shavers.
