Nice day.

Temperatures were moderate, and the winds were below normal strength for this time of year. The water has gotten very much greener then it was the last trip we had out there. A dirty brown/green soup.

4 of us on my ticket boated/tubed around 100 EACH yesterday. One of our tubers wanted to concentrate on BG and Crappie so he only tubed about 30 bass for the day but he was very pleased with the results.

The 3 of us spent most of the day in Hauser with only a short time in PC during noon-1330. I did boat my largest of the day (3/9 lbs) off a rock ledge useing a brn/or 3/8 jig with a salty grub trailer while fishing PC.

Most of the day we just worked the middle, open water of Hauser because the wolf packs were very actively working everywhere. We would watch for surface activety and position the boat to meet the expected postions of the packs. More than once the bass used the boat to trap the bait (we found that most of the bait they were herding and smashing were 1 - 2 inch baby bass and not shad) against. Sometimes the action would last for minutes and sometimes secounds. But close to closing (about 35 minutes before) we were in a position that the bass trapped their prey between a rocky point, an outside treeline and our boat. Every cast was being smashed by bass and more times than not 2 bass would be hooked and boated on the plug. That was 3 guys boating 2 bass each on each retreive for close to 30 minutes so the numbers really pilled up at the end.
All through the day when one bass was hooked in these frenzies there would be multiple trailers following the hooked bass to the boat and they would actually bite a small crappie jig tossed behind the hooked bass.
Lipless cranks worked great, as did 3.5 inch soft swimbaits, but the "queen of the battlefield" was 3 - 5 inch hard bodied slashbaits worked very, very aggressively. And I do mean worked aggressively! The more exaggerated the action of the slashbait the more strikes it produced.
Most of these guys were 2 lbers with a very occasional 3 lber hooked.

Mark did boat a 6/11 lb bass on his 1st cast in the morning useing a frog along an outside treeline in Echo Cove.

Less than 1/2 the boats were in use yesterday. And only 2 of those were left on the lake to see the end of the day's action.

If you're thinking about going but aren't sure if you should..........go now as the crowd is light and the action really very good!! At least on Wednesdays.

Glad to hear you had fun on the foamers. Sort of like freshwater tuna.

LOL!
Exactly what we were saying all day. There were a few times I moved the boat ahead a couple of feet with fhe trolling motor and the bass would go off again as the bait scattered.:gothand:

Sure beats the action and the numbers of tuna we've been catching sp far this season.

Gotta go.........................the Eastern Sierras are waiting.
