The attack happened near Fletcher Cove in an area known as Table Tops, lifeguards said. Officials said the man had been bitten on the leg, though witnesses said he still had both limbs when he was pulled from the water.
Dude was a triathelete training with others. No word yet on whether he was wearing a seal costume (wetsuit).
You yakers be careful out there with your bloody fish thrashing about and dangling your feet over the side!!

they didn't confirm it was a shark attack from what i heard. they are saying that it was an animal attack, could have been a sea lion or a seal. puppin season started in february and those females get fairly protective.

I can see that as a good reason that te sharks are out and about also.
But they say now that it was a shark, trying to figure out what kind now...

sounded like a shark attack on the news... Looks like they closed all the beaches in north county from delmar to carlsbad (the attack was in solana beach)... At least no one is allowed in the water.
Sounds like really bad luck for the man who lost his life as he is only one of 3 people in the last century to be attacked and killed by a shark in san diego waters.
Last man documented was outside of la jolla cove in 1959. Witnesses back then said that shark was a great white. I wonder if one got lost and ended up in north county?

On the water report - he caught it, I saw it. Oside saw it, Nancy Ortiz gaffed it.
