met up @ SI with fellow smackfisher Ed (aka Cabo Captain) and fished PLK on his sled today. the main plan of attack was to get Ed acquainted with local calico bass fishing with the artificial stuff. conditons were shit from the get go with a steady SW wind and drizzle. manned it up and headed out of the channel and started working our way north, fishing under birds for a pretty consistent pick... then hit a killer spot of activity about mid-sunset cliffs that busted pretty wide for a few hours non-stop. drift after drift, the fish kept chewing the rubber hard.. no toads but it was a good bite to get Ed familiar with the "rippin' swimmies between the alleys" program, which he did a great job at. we'll have him chuckin the slug for em in no time :thumbsup:
so needless to say, there wasnt too much pitching into holes going on.. these fish were hungry and were gettin' their grub on up top. every color dipped in Uni-Butter was the hot ticket and every rubber got chewed to pieces. only downside was i was bummed i didnt bring any slug or iron, but how bummed can ya really get when youre in a ripper bass bite :idiot:
the water has really cleaned up and was a solid 62.5 where we were fishing. saw up to 63.3 on the inside. we mustve caught ten hundred dinks today. the pre-game show is definitely on...
