View Full Version : Tucson?
I'm going to Tucson to watch the Pads next week. Anyone been there, know of anywhere to get a good bite, a decent bar, something interesting to see? Anything?

I have never been to spring training but hear that it is alot of fun... Ton's of nightlife and partying going down. From what i hear scottsdale is not far and has alot more to offer in the food and beverage spectrum.
As far as sites...
Here are some amazing hotels in scottsdale i have studied... they are all worth a visit, have amazing lounges, dining, and bars... I have only been through the phoenician once (for a drink), had a similar vibe to the Ivy hotel in hollywood.
The Phoenician - top class luxury, amazing lobby, lots of women...
Scottsdale, AZ, USA
Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain - Modern design- lively atmosphere
Scottsdale, AZ, USA
have fun!

I went to Tucson once back in 05'....
It was on the third stop in my 5 stop adventure on tour with the bled and my ex-brother's-in-laws band breakdance vietnam.
it started in hollywood, then went to anaheim, than went to phoenix, then went to tucson and then back to some other shithole.
In Tucson, I was 3 deep in bottles of remy and that night I busted open a fresh bottle of crown after having just drove my friend Joe's durango for a few hours on the loop outta phoenix, drunk as oooo and listening to turn on the bright lights by interpol on replay like 68 times for the whole duration of the drunken mess that was binging on a tour with some shitty bands.
I cried that night about something with someone and it may or may not have been a religious experience or a chemically induced pondering upon why i made out with a teenage girl while under the peer pressure influence of the brothers to my girlfriend that was sitting at home waiting for my calls, I believe lines of cocaine were involved.
The burning ember of a memory though, that stands out amongst the rest previously mentioned, is this....if Arizona had herpe ridden, puss-pulsating, slightly yellowish discolored blood leaking asshole....than that disease ridden asshole would be named "Tucson"
be sure to bring an 8 ball and remember that the padres are bunch of ooooing pussies.

When I lived in the Phoenix area, we would drive to Tuscon to goto Weinershnitzel. There was no Weinershnitzel in Phoenix at that time.

I would head toward U of A. The college area is probably your best bet.:cheers2:

I'm with Oside - It's a college town. Hang by the U of A and you'll be alright unless that crowd's too young for you.
Tucson report.
Tucson is cooler than I thought it would be, but yeah, you pretty much ought to hang near U of A. That area reminded me of some parts of San Francisco, mainly the Haight, and well as the funkier parts of Portland, and Seattle.
Good food. The Mexican food we found kicked ass. Different than SD's but damn good. It was Guadalajara-style Mexican. Damn good. We also hit the Nimbus Brewing Company for some sick beer, corned beef and cabbage, and a few rounds of billiards, on Monday.
When we first got there we thought we may have made a big mistake (our motel and the ballpark are in an industrial area), but by the time we left, we'd already decided to return in a few years for another round of Spring Training baseball. It sure helps to get your bearings before you hit Tucson. I'd also try to find something to do outside of the drinking and eating cycle. I heard they have some good hiking trails, so I may look into that for next time.
Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
