View Full Version : Windy day @ PLK - 6/7/08 - REPORT

gotta invite from Birdie to fish with him, his buddy Brian and Ramiro (aka Orimar) on "John The Fish" today. launched from Dana MB @ 6am in gusty SW wind and cloudy conditions. hung a left outta the jetties and discovered 60-61 degree, dirty green water, with a few birds picking here and there.

set up 4 or 5 long drifts running up & out thru the mats. we found the best bite on the outside stringers straight off of Ladera St., but it was hard to stay on 'em without a trolling motor, due to the 15-20+ kt SW gusts. regardless, everyone was able to manage some fish and laughs were had by all.

thanks again for the invite Birdie, its always a pleasure to ride on John The Fish.

all fish caught on various swimmies & weedless kelp jigs covered in Uni-Butter.

Wind sucked but we did what we could out there to scrap out a nice session. :exciter:

nice going out there. that wind made for a tough bite.

i met up at 4am with Bill H, Bill G and Joe a SDwish guy and we made it to opening of the big bay, we were greeted by angry seas and high winds. we went back in and kicked it at the outboard motor club watching fishing on the satellite until sun up. at daybreak tried it again and met up with some birds at the PLK, fished the surface bite and bill h took a nice 5lber on the slug. i got a sandy and we tried our luck for a while before calling it a day. that wind was fierce, kind of made it difficult to fish.

Yo! what up? Cool pic's Duane. Good fish'n with you and Ramiro and D. One would never know the winds were howling by the pic's... heavy gusts, some decent passes & lanes, all hooed up on cali's, R's fatty, apples, Newcastle's, the pirate story(that killed) and the ever pondering of the "yak club". Good times, good times.

nice one..... got the seasons team in full effect in the weeds! nice to see rams with out the trench coat in the weeds for that session! :flex:

looks like the offshore ticket is starting to get going , can't wait to leave SD at our stern and head into the dark of the night....

tell me about it... im ready to make a run to take a looksie. a few yellow jacks were caught under fairly local floating cabbage yesterday.

tues sounds good , lets rent a skiff and i will bring my 50 gal tanks down and a hand held gps......! LOL

i have a feeling it's gonna be on out there next week! Unfourtunatly I won't be around for any action, ill be fishing in baja till wednesday. :gothand: go get some!
