Oh yeah!
Sweet carbine you built!
LU, trigger and bolt groups, UU, recoil group and collapsable stock.
My compliments to you Andrew. Very nice.
1 question:
the rear aperature sight..........did it come included with your UU or did you get it seperately?
Very nice! Now it's time to enjoy shooting it.
Save your pennies as you're going to need them to buy bulk ammo. I almost had a heart attack at the prices being charged for bulk 5.56, 7.62, .45 acp and 9mm ammo at the Yuma show two weeks ago.

I chose the sites as part of the assembled upper. I'll be loading up on the 5.56 at the next Del Mar show in April. $$$

OK, just take any money you have in your child's college fund out. You'll need it.
Here's the bulk ammo prices from the Yuma gun show:
7.62mm Wolf brand...........$190.00 per 500 rds
5.56mm ball Tiwanese brand....$229.00 per 500 rds
And the kicker was......reloaded .45 acp ball.....$170.00 per 500 rds
Crap, I go through 500 rds every 30 days. Screw it, I decided to start saving the brass and reloading my .45s again at those prices. No more littering up the pristine desert with my spent casings anymore.
Oh yeah, that's a safety thing with me. I shoot as I hike so if I get lost all I have to do is follow the spent casing trail back to where I started to find some liquid refreshment.:idiot:

I paid $92 for 440 rounds of 7.62x54 at the last Del Mar Gun Show. Sure it's Bulgarian with corrosive primers, but that's nothing a swab of Windex can't take care of.
$229 for 500 rds of 5.56, wow. I'd do it. The kid is only 8, still plenty of time to save for college. He'd better get a job soon though.

MikeB aka Flatbadge aka Sandratt over on SDFish incorrectly slammed me for building a CA illegal assult weapon. Too bad, I've always liked Mike.
Everything you need to know about building a CA legal weapon starting from an Off List Lower reciever: http://www.calguns.net

CA illegal???????
That doesn't make sense. Did he question you on some open forum somewhere or through a PM?!? I just don't understand why he would slam you for building one of these "evil assault rifles". It just doesn't sound like Mike.
Anyway, he lives in Texas now so who cares.
I don't think you'd be so simple minded as to build a "CA illegal assault rifle" and then have the unmitigated temerity to post pictures of it on an open forum on the internet.
What makes the thing "CA illegal"? The squirrel cage? The pistol grip? The collapsable stock? The "non-detachable" magazine?
Try none of the above if one knows the regs. The magazine you have is legal because it needs a tool to release it doesn't it? An un-fired 5.56mm round becomes that "tool".....
Before they pulled the plug over at SDFumblers I posted up info on what I was building and got "I didn't think you could do that here" or "that's illegal isn't it" on more than one occasion. So I just gave up posting about it and went on my happy little way doing what I knew was ok to do.
"Ya can lead a horse to water but ya can't make 'im drink." became my motto.
People just don't take the time to read or find out things that are legally possible (on more things than just this) so they miss out on opportunities. If the Dems grab control of Congress AND the White House you just may be glad you did this before it is to late!!!! I just don't get why Mike would slam you.
On another note, there were no UUs in Yuma that I was interested in. I decided to go with a match lenght barrel as I enjoy shooting in DCM/CMP sanctioned matches. So I still don't have what I want in that respect.
However, I did purchase a few "larger than normal" magazines for a good price and Piccatinny accessories for when I do get what I want.

No PM from MikeB, he laid it out there for all to see. Unfortunate.
So will you be posting here about future or even past builds?

Yes. Within certain limits, mind you. For other stuff that's why they invented PMs.
Right now, because I put my AR project on hold untill I find what I want for the price I want to pay, I'm working on customising and "accurising" an older beat up Rem M700, in .243 Win calibre, to be a sub-MOA rifle.
I get more than enough fishing time in throughout the year on differant venues so I usually reserve the winter and early spring to building platforms and shooting.
I am serious about what I relayed to you.
