Headed down to S Mission this morning from about 6:30-8ish. Looked around for sandcrabs, couldn't find any so I threw the gulp sandcrab for a couple perch bites. I didn't come to catch perch so I looked until I found the real thing, and about 3 casts later I caught this beauty! 21" and an excellent fight on 4# test! I was very stoked! Sorry about the crappy phone pics.

I've always been an advocate of using the lightest gear I can get away with! I bought that ultralight Lamiglass originally for spotties, but it makes a sweet surf rod! The scorpion casts the light stuff with ease.

ultra light is the way to go surf/bay fishing for sure, you definately get more bites for sure. welcome to the boards. nice bean.

That fish you've got there is a corVina, not a corBina. Just a slight difference in name AND appearance (note their mouths).

Nicely done. Don't worry about getting the name wrong, I've been schooled on it too.

No worries, no harsh tones here, just trying to be helpful! I've caught some small corvina in the bay and got my ass kicked by some bigger ones (which I didn't land)! Awesome fish!

What impressed me about the corbina is how they really use the outgoing waves to their advantage and really take off. I was surprised how many runs he took.

You say corvina, I say corbina, lets call the whole thing off.

I'm gonna get me two of both, later if not sooner.

Thanks for the tips.
