Picked up my new kayak last week and hit La Jolla Friday afternoon, Sun AM, Mon AM and Today. Finally got some blood on the yak. Launched around 5am this morning and found some puddling bait. Caught a few 'dines and 1 little mack.
Went through the dines, so I pinned on my mack and stayed with the bait school. Threw my surface iron about 500 times for 2 bumps and a few followers but no takers. Around 7:45, my flyline mack takes off. zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ It was like a mustache ride on steroids. Very fun battle as the fish never went deep. It stayed near the surface and just pulled. I got towed all over the place.

Hell ya brotha, that is a proper fish! Were were out there Mon morning but couldn't scratch a bite, all we did was get practice launching the boat in the surf.(by practice i mean getting ourselves and all our gear SOAKED, but you gotta pay to play, it'll all be worth it was soon as i land my first yellow out there)
